2011 Open Water Swim Events

The ad hoc "Committee to Save the 5K in the Bay" will not be pursuing US Masters/USA Swimming sanctions for the 2011 "Fran Schnarr Memorial 5K in the Bay."

The reasons for this decision are detailed in West Neck Beach Water-Blog post on the subject, which you can read at if you are interested.

We are committed, however, to preserving the annual ( this year would have been the 20th ) tradition of a locally run,sanctioned 5K swim event in Huntington Bay, and to that end the Committee will be reconvening in the Fall to begin planning the 2012 "5K in the Bay." !

Volunteers

We are always looking for help with our events - kayakers, start/finish monitors, registration, web site support, etc. If you have the time and want to help out next year or during the off season, please contact us.
