2008 Open Water Swim Events

Congratulations to all the swimmers and volunteers. We had another great event this year. Click here to see the results in Excel format.

This year we had Age Group 1, 2 and 3Ks, plus Open and Masters 5Ks on Sunday, July 13th, 2008. Details available on the Events page.

News

Second, we are particularly pleased and honored that 7 time Marathon Swimming World Champion, Shelley Taylor-Smith of Australia, has honored us by entering our 5K swim this year. It was just a matter of days ago that Shelley was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame at a ceremony held in Omaha in conjunction with the USA Swimming Olympic Team Trials. We're confident that all of Metro, as well as the many athletes from outside of our LSC/LMSC, extend to Shelley a warm welcome and hearty congratulations on receiving this well-deserved honor.

Dear Volunteers

Please accept the attached "Thank News" as a token of the appreciation of the swimmers for your efforts at this year's Open Water Championships.

I also want to pass on the very positive sentiments of our special guest, Shelley Taylor-Smith. She expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome she received and commented on what a beautiful, challenging course we have. She understands why folks want to keep coming back to take it on repeated times.

Shelley also repeated her best wishes to all of you, swimmers and volunteers, for your future successes.
